The following links will help new Scouts and their families get registered in Scouting BSA. Forms and fees to register both Scouts and adults can be found below. Information about Scout uniforms as well.

SCOUTS BSA JOINING REQUIREMENTS FOR BOTH 171 BOYS AND 171 GIRLS
At least 10 years old and in the fifth grade and register after March 1, OR
Have earned the Arrow of Light Award and are at least 10 years old, OR
Age 11 but have not reached age 18

Step 3: BSA CONSENT, RELEASE, and MEDICAL FORM INFORMATION - For the safety of both our Scouts and adults, BSA requires a new form and medical physical annually.

IMPORTANT: Medical Forms Must Be Delivered In Person. BSA Does Not Allow Them to Be Sent Electronically.

SCOUTS BSA ADULT REGISTRATION and FORMS
Step 1 (required): YOUTH PROTECTION TRAINING (YPT) - The safety of our Scouts is paramount. Normally, this training is only needed for adults registering in the troop. However, the Troop 171 Adult Committee has mandated that all adults associated with Troop 171 successfully complete Youth Protection Training. The goal is that every adult has a complete understanding of the procedures and expectations to keep our Scouts safe. The program is available online at no charge.
Youth Protection Information and Training
Step 2 (optional): BSA FORMS - ADULT REGISTRATION - Parents may choose to register in Scouts BSA as a troop leader. Positions include: Adult Committee Member, Assistant Scoutmaster or Merit Badge Counselor. Completion of Youth Protection Training is required by all adults whether registering in the troop or not.

Step 4 (optional): Troop Merit Badge Counselor Sign Up - You only need 4 things to be a merit badge counselor. Feel free to discuss being a merit badge counselor before signing up.

BSA UNIFORMS INFORMATION and PATCH PLACEMENT
Uniforms are available at the Louisville Scout Shop or at McGuckin Hardware. At times, we also have uniform shirts that other Scouts have outgrown. Please let us know if you would like to pursue this option.

Neckerchief: We have our own troop neckerchief that will be presented at either Webelos Crossover or at a Troop Induction ceremony.
Troop Number Patch: We have a one-piece 171 patch. This makes for easier sewing. Available from Barb Allan.
