Troops 171 B has been continuously active since 1952. Troop 171 G was founded as one of the first girl troops in the country in February of 2020.
As linked Scouts BSA troops, we:
Youth Leading Youth
Scouting helps young people learn academic skills, self-confidence, ethics, and leadership skills that last for a lifetime. We also have a lot of fun! Scouts learn leadership skills by leading other Scouts. They organize troop meetings and campouts, attend leadership training and have a full voice in making their troop run.
Boys and girls can join Scouts BSA any time of the year.
Scouts in Troop171 B and Troop 171 G camp every month of the year, go to summer camp, enjoy backpacking and kayaking as far away as Alaska, and go scuba diving in the Caribbean. We teach outdoor skills in age-appropriate adventures.
Parents are invited to join in the fun as well.
From Tenderfoot to Eagle, Scout ranks require service to others. Our Scouts assist churches, schools, and community groups. To earn our highest rank, the rank of Eagle, Scouts create a service project that involves working with a non-profit organization, recruiting Scouts and others to volunteer on the project. Finally, they manage the work of the volunteers to complete the project.
Troop 171 meets at the Grace Commons Church. During the school year, troop meetings are held on Monday nights from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Please contact us to confirm a meeting night and location. Summer hours and locations will vary.

Troop 171 Linked Girl Troop and Boy Troop
Troop 171 was started in 1952. Since that time, more than 215 Scouts have earned the rank of Eagle Scouts. Now, girls have the opportunity to join Scouting BSA and earn the rank of Eagle Scout as well.
Our troop is two troops in one. Troop 171 B (Boy Troop) is joined with Troop 171 G (Girl Troop). We function as two separate troops under the same sponsor, Adult Committee and a shared adult Scout Leader Staff.
Boys and girls both are invited to come visit us any time. We suggest that parents of interested Scouts contact us first to confirm our meeting time, location and the scheduled activity.
