Scouts will be in backcountry wilderness locations where the crew members rely on each other.

The total round trip hiking distance is approximately 20 miles—10 miles backpacking and 10 miles day hiking. Scouts must have the previous experience of the Micro Adventure or other multi-day backpacking experience. However, it is a great first step towards future desert adventures. There are several day hikes to places such as Spooky and Peek-A-Boo Gulch before heading to Harris Wash.

∞ Trip Location: near Escalante, UT along the Hole in the Rock Road

∞ Slot Canyon: Harris Wash

Backpacking Distance: 20 miles round trip

• Micro Adventure backpack or other multi-day backpacking experience.

• Second Class Rank or above

DESERT HIGH ADVENTURE [Age 14 and above with extensive backpacking experience - Specific requirements below]

This trip is the top level of spring break trips, a true high adventure experience. This trip involves backpacking, rock climbing and rappelling. Scouts must have the previous experience provided by multiple desert and other multi-day backpacking trips. Scouts and adult must attend the climbing practice and trip shakedown before the trip.

∞ Trip Location: near Boulder, UT

∞ Slot Canyon: To be determined by the crew.

Backpacking Distance: Varies depending on the style of the trip. Can be basecamp with day hikes or longer backpack.

Trip Description: This backpacking trip is very challenging in that some of the time is spent backpacking in narrow spaces and rappelling into confined and deep canyons.  Anyone going on this trip must have the proper gear and experience to safely meet these challenges.
