The following links will help new Scouts and their families get registered in Scouting BSA. Forms and fees to register both Scouts and adults can be found below. Please don't hesitate to ask if you have questions.

BSA YOUTH REGISTRATION and FORMS
Step 1: BSA FORMS - YOUTH REGISTRATION
    1. Option #1: BSA Youth Application Form for Troop 171 Boys and 171 Girls [sorry it is not an interactive form.)
      • Print, complete and mail to Barb Allan - at 816 S Carr Avenue, Lafayette, CO  80026.
    1. Option #2a: BSA Online Application for Troop 171 Boy's Troop [Youth or Adult] - Not Available at this time
    2. Option #2b: BSA Online Application for Troop 171 Girls's Troop [Youth or Adult] - Not Available at this time
Step 2: BSA MEDICAL INFORMATION and FORMS - For the safety of both our Scouts and adults, BSA requires a new form and medical physical annually.
    1. Details are on our BSA Informed Consent, Release Agreement and Health History page.

BSA UNIFORMS INFORMATION and PATCH PLACEMENT
Uniforms are available at the Louisville Scout Shop or at McGuckin Hardware. At times, we also have uniform shirts that other Scouts have outgrown. Please let us know if you would like to pursue this option.

  • Neckerchief: We have our own troop neckerchief that will be presented at either Webelos Crossover or at a Troop Induction ceremony.
  • Troop Number Patch: We have a one-piece 171 patch. This makes for easier sewing. Available from Barb Allan.
  • Uniform Insignia Guide: Proper placement of uniform patches
  • Sewing on Uniform Patches
    • Patch Sewing Service - for a fee, there may be people available to sew patches on uniforms. Check with the Louisville Scout Shop for availability, cost, and turnaround time.
    • Badge Magic - a non-sewing adhesive alternative. Available at the Louisville Scout Shop and McGuckin Hardware. 
BSA ADULT REGISTRATION and FORMS
Step 1 (required): YOUTH PROTECTION TRAINING (YPT) - The safety of our Scouts is paramount. Normally, this training is only needed for adults registering in the troop. However, the Troop 171 Adult Committee has mandated that all adults associated with Troop 171 successfully complete Youth Protection Training. The goal is that every adult has a complete understanding of the procedures and expectations to keep our Scouts safe. The program is available online at no charge.

Step 2 (optional): BSA FORMS - ADULT REGISTRATION - Parents may choose to register in Scouts BSA as a troop leader. Positions include: Adult Committee Member, Assistant Scoutmaster or Merit Badge Counselor. Completion of Youth Protection Training is required by all adults whether registering in the troop or not.

Step 3 (required if going on campouts): BSA MEDICAL INFORMATION and FORMS - 
For the safety of both our Scouts and adults, BSA requires a new form and medical physical annually.

Step 4 (optional): Troop Merit Badge Counselor Sign Up - You only need 4 things to be a merit badge counselor. Feel free to discuss being a merit badge counselor before signing up.
