Investment in Character and Leadership Annual Fund Drive

Dear Troop 171 Family,

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has already made their generous donation on Colorado Gives Day to this year's Fund Drive! So far we have managed to raise more than 50% of our $10,000 goal for Troops 171 B and 171 G, and we would like to encourage anyone who has not yet donated to please help us reach the finish line.

Our suggested donation is $200 for each registered Scout. We understand that not every family can afford to give at this level, especially those with two or more Scouts in our troops, so if you can give more, please do so. Does your company match gifts? If so, please reach out to me for a special employer matching form. Your monetary contributions qualify for the Colorado Child Care Contribution Tax Credit.

Year round, the Scouting program helps form young men and women of whom we can be proud.

Investment in Character and Leadership (ICL) is an annual fund drive to support Longs Peak Council, which spends $600 per youth member every year. Here’s what that money provides.

The Council maintains camps that we use: Camp Patiya outside of Boulder; Chimney Park Camp in Wyoming, where we go in January; and Ben Delatour Scout Ranch. The Council also operates Scout stores where we obtain uniforms and badges.

Longs Peak Council provides training for our Scout Leader staff. When we decided to launch a girls’ troop, the Council offered us advice and resources. The Council also underwrites Scouting programs for underprivileged youth.

If we reach our goal, the Council will give us discounts on summer camps as well as free rank patches and merit badges for one year—saving our troop hundreds of dollars.

Troop 171 has a proud record of meeting our goals and doing our part to support Longs Peak Council and we thank you for contributing to this year’s goal.

Yours in Scouting,
