• Finish choosing tent partners.
• Finish checking patrol boxes and stoves.
• PACK THE TRAILER!
• TURN IN MEDS and CHECK THE MEDICAL FORMS WITH BARB! Watch for details in the next email. <— IMPORTANT ENOUGH TO GET ITS OWN EMAIL!

PRE-CAMP REMINDERS
• Haircuts – if your son is going to get a haircut before camp, please have him get it early next week. We have had Scouts get a haircut a day or two before camp and then have newly exposed skin get sunburned resulting in blistered skin! BE PREPARED!
Med and Medical Forms – please review the special requirements regarding medication and medical forms for Ben Delatour Scout Ranch. These are hard and fast rules imposed by the State of Colorado on all residential camps. These will be resent soon.

CAMP DETAILS
• Packing List Link. The linked is also posted on the left side of the troop Website. Please note the items TO bring and items NOT TO BRING to camp. If you have questions, please let me know.
• Rain Gear AND synthetic fiber clothing.  We can have heavy rain storms. Be Prepared!
• Tents – The camp provides wall tents on wooden platforms. If you are doing  Camping Merit Badge or some other activity with an overnighter, you may want to bring a backpacking tent.

• DEPARTURE TIME: 9:00 AM
• WEAR YOUR UNIFORM!  ANYONE WITHOUT A UNIFORM WILL BE SENT HOME TO RETRIEVE IT. Reminder – we will not be leaving from the church so the run to the closet for a shirt is not available!

POST CARD CONTEST
Post Card Mailing Contest – One of our fun camp traditions is a post card contest.
• Please make sure your son knows the FULL addresses for home, other family such as grandparents, and family friends.
• Scouts write postcards at camp during the day. Each night, we have drawings for prizes before the cards are sent out.
• NEED POSTCARDS – Jeff has a great stash of postcards but could use more. If you have any random post cards postcards that you could donate to the cause, please bring them to him on to the Monday troop meeting or give them to him Jeff when we depart for camp on Sunday.
• Postage will be paid for by the troop.
• What to expect when post cards arrive. Never sure! Older Scouts tend to say hi to their dog. Younger Scouts go into great detail about how great, or how challenging, life is at camp.
• Postcard from a now Eagle Scout when he was younger:
“I got stabbed in my hand by my knife. It felt like I got a shot from my doctor. And today in the post card postcard drawing, I won a survival kit with another knife. All in all, it was an EPIC day. Please save this post card postcard.” - Priceless memories!

PACKAGES FROM HOME
Scouts love receiving something in the mail at camp. Here are a few guidelines:
• Letters and post cards postcards are great. Letters with a small amount of cash for the trading post are much appreciated. Please keep it small so there isn’t a great hoard of junk food purchased.
• Actual care packages of cookies, chips, candy, etc. are really fun. Again, there is a trading post so keep it small to hold down on junk food.
• It does take awhile for things to get to camp. Anything mailed after Monday the week of camp may not arrive. Mailing the Friday before or the weekend we leave would be the best.

Mailing address is:
Scout’s Name
Soaring Eagle
Troop # 171
2331 County Road 68C
Red Feather Lakes, CO 80545
